the downtown holiday market
Okay, so it looks like a holiday-themed medieval times, but that’s just part of the charm. Put on by the Downtown BID, the holiday market’s a great place to snag presents during your lunch break. Conveniently located outside the National Portrait Gallery (which we are, ahem, boycotting), the market has a hodge-podge of items: lots of hats, art, jewelry, a religious icon here and a handmade walnut cutting board there. I stopped by yesterday and snapped some faves:
My absolute favorite stand was jewelry designer Carrie Saxl. If you’re not from the District, no worries… she’s got a website.
